TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the imminent closure of Dows Creek State School and the fact that the minister took this decision irrespective of increasing enrolments and community involvement to prevent the proposed closure of the school.
Your petitioners therefore request the House to conduct a full review and assessment, with due consideration to recommendations put forward to the State Government through community consultation, given that Education Minister, Hon Rod Welford MP, overturned recommendations to keep the school open for 12 months in order to give the community time to conduct recruitment initiatives.
