TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
Queensland Citizens draws to the attention of the House that Queenslanders required to travel at least 50kms from their local health facility to another; to access medical care they are entitled to claim the Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme as a deduction or a reimbursement.
The mandatory guidelines state ‘The subsidy is to be paid within 30 working days from receipt of all necessary documents.’
Too many Queenslanders are waiting several months for these payments.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to immediately change the guideline to state ‘MUST be paid’. Making reimbursement payment time frame not just necessary but compulsory. Returning money back into the pockets of Queenslanders quickly who are already struggling.
