Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the urgent need to upgrade the Bruce Highway between Curra and the planned Tiaro Bypass.

This stretch of highway, from Gympie to Maryborough, has been consistently overlooked for critical upgrades. The RACQ has previously rated 40 percent of this section of highway two stars out of five for road infrastructure, highlighting its dangerous condition.

Despite repeated calls for action, there appears to be no concrete plans for the planning, design, or delivery of an upgrade from Curra to the proposed Tiaro Bypass.

The current state of the highway endangers the lives of countless motorists daily and hinders economic growth in the region.

Residents along this stretch of highway feel let down and betrayed by the government's failure to address their concerns and feedback. They worry that the lack of forward planning will further harm their communities, which rely on access to the Bruce Highway for work and primary production transport. The lack of transparency regarding project timeframes and detailed work plans only deepens their frustration.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure:

1. detailed planning and design work for the Bruce Highway upgrade from north of Curra to the planned Tiaro bypass is immediately commenced;

2. clear timeframes for all outstanding stages of the project, including detailed work, construction and maintenance schedules are provided; and

3. prioritisation of the upgrade of this stretch of highway to ensure the safety of all road users.
