Queensland residents draw to the attention of the House the dangerous state of the Glastonbury and Exhibition Roads intersection, Southside. 

Gympie South State School is located at the intersection which also serves as the main access to Cooloola Christian College.

There are almost 1,000 students combined in these two schools. Both schools cater to primary school students, with Cooloola Christian College also available to high school students.

While the intersection also includes two nearby school crossings, most students who need to cross or negotiate it are very young.

The area becomes severely congested during drop-off and pick-up times, with traffic gridlock extending for increasingly longer periods.

The congestion frustrates drivers, students, and their families, increasing safety risks for everyone in the area. As Gympie continues to grow quickly through new developments within the catchment of Glastonbury Road the situation will continue to deteriorate.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all within its power to upgrade the intersection Glastonbury and Exhibition Roads intersection, Southside to improve the safety for students, their parents, carers, and families as well as for locals, workers, and visitors who are stuck at the intersection.
