Electors of the Division of Ipswich West draws to the attention of the House the intersection of Haigslea-Amberley Road, Schultz Road and the Warrego Highway where, between 2014 and 2023, 66 crashes occurred including some leading to serious injury and death. In 2024, there have been numerous accidents and one fatality.

In early 2020, an initial planning study investigated options to address the safety issues at the intersection. No minor upgrade solutions were identified that could adequately address the safety issues without major interventions. In mid-2021, community consultation was undertaken to allow TMR to better understand transport priorities of the area. To date, no upgrade has been designed, funded or constructed. The petitioners do not believe that this process is being undertaken with sufficient urgency for such a dangerous intersection.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to take all necessary actions to ensure a long-term solution is designed, costed and funded to fix this dangerous intersection as soon as possible.
