Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House an increase in break and enters, carjackings, stolen vehicles, property destruction and theft by juvenile perpetrators (under the age of 18).

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to ensure existing penalties are applied to criminals below the age of 18, strengthen laws currently applied to young offenders and establish properly structured and supported diversion programs for repeat offenders. Breaking conditions of bail needs to be an offence for juvenile offenders. Offenders under the age of 18 cannot do community service. New deterrents need to be put into place and Police given more powers to deter offenders and enforce new laws.
