Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House concerns with Cr Greg Christensen, as Mayor of the Scenic Rim Regional Council (SRRC).

Councillors past and present have spoken out publicly about the loss of democratic process, being denied free speech, loss of public respect and a toxic culture.

Meetings are in chaos. The Mayor attempts to control speakers with repeated points of order and accusations of conflicts of interest. At one meeting, all councillors were accused of a conflict of interest to block a notice of motion. One councillor has had near seventy complaints of inappropriate conduct to the Office of the Independent Assessor (OIA). These have been described as frivolous, vexatious and politically motivated with only three being upheld.

A local developer is claiming $37 million in damages accusing SRRC of breach of contract, misleading and deceptive conduct and unconscionable conduct.

The Beaudesert Pig and Calf Saleyards that had operated continually for over 100 years was forced to close when council revoked the lease, without public consultation or reasonable explanation.  Despite opposition and petitions, the Mayor failed to relent. The fight to protect the Saleyards, with a successful Heritage Listing, was overturned by council’s legal appeal, at ratepayer’s expense.

Community consultations on important projects such as revitalisation projects are considered a farce, often with no published results.

Your petitioners, therefore, request that House to do all in its power to cause the removal of the Mayor of the Scenic Rim Regional Council and appoint an Administrator.
