TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House that a PDA Material Change of Use Approval (see DEV2020/1143) will allow a large public boat ramp to be constructed at Weinam Creek Redland Bay. Normally such ramps and their car boat trailer parking are built in park reserves away from urban development. But this development will be incompatible to the community as it will adversely impact on housing, two approved multi-unit developments (DEV2019/1001 and DEV2020/1093) and a state-owned satellite hospital close by. There will be noise pollution of vehicles, clanking boat trailers and marine engines occurring spasmodically day and night. Over 200 existing vitally needed mainland car parking spaces used by the island communities of Russell, Karragarra, Lamb and Macleay Islands will be lost to this development also.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call on the Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning to withdraw the approval and in conjunction with the Redland City Council find an alternative site outside the PDA that does not impact so badly on the Redland Bay and islands communities.
