Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House: Children have the right to be protected from harm and governments should ensure that children are properly cared for and protect them from violence, abuse and neglect. Children have the right to live a full life and governments should ensure that children survive and develop healthily. All organisations concerned with children should work towards what is best for each child. All children have the right to an education.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to: Ensure a public inquiry is established to inquire into the community’s concerns regarding the harm and deaths caused by bullying in our schools. It is in the public interest that the relevant governmental bodies undertake a thorough analysis and provide expert reports with recommendations regarding the proper management to prevent and protect the child from bullying, cyber bullying, harassment, discrimination and violence in our schools with a view to developing and implementing a nationwide Anti-Bullying framework to ensure the safety, health and happiness of all young Australians.
