The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the appalling decision to close the Obstetrics practice at the Mater Hospital. The lack of effective, operational co-operation between Gladstone Hospital and the Mater, the long term incremental negative impacts of these closures.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House that there be a meeting of all stakeholders including local government, industry partners, community representatives, hospital board, base hospital and mater hospital management. The goals of the co-location agreement be reviewed and revitalised by an independent, appropriately qualified individual/entity.
