TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of citizens of Queensland and in particular electors of the Division of Inala draws to the attention of the House that a demountable building on land at 28 Wirraway Parade Inala owned by the State of Queensland and which has housed the not-for-profit South West Brisbane Community Legal Centre Inc for the last 23 years, has been declared unsafe. The community legal centre had to move out of the Inala area, having provided free legal advice and assistance to the people of Inala and surrounding districts for almost 30 years.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to:

  1. Gift the land at 28 Wirraway Parade Inala to the South West Brisbane Community Legal Centre Inc and provide adequate funding to demolish the existing unsafe demountable building and replace it with a new demountable building; or
  2. Provide the South West Brisbane Community Legal Centre Inc with a 20 year lease on the land at 28 Wirraway Parade Inala and provide adequate funding to demolish the existing unsafe demountable building and replace it with a new demountable building.
