TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of Queensland residents of the Capricorn Coast, rural areas of the former Livingstone Shire, and their supporters draws to the attention of the House that the forced Local Government amalgamation of 2008 has proved to be detrimental to both our region, and the social and economic well-being of our community.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to enable the Capricorn Coast and rural areas of the former Livingstone Shire to de-amalgamate from the Rockhampton Regional Council over the next 18 months, and be afforded the opportunity to once again exercise their democratic rights to elect their own independent Local Government Council.
