TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House that Queensland is the only State in Australia with one house since the abolition of the Legislative Council in 1922.  We believe the Upper House is a critical and necessary board of review for effective and representative government.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to hold a referendum in accordance with the Queensland Constitution to re-introduce an Upper House to be known as the Peoples House.  The Peoples House would consist of the 45 mayors from Queensland's most populated local councils.
