Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the need to provide for parents' pram parking in Hervey Bay at Shopping Centres and along the Esplanade. This is for the safety of babies and other children as they collectively exit vehicles. Children are at risk of getting hit by a car in the narrow area behind parked vehicles at shopping centres. There is also a common risk of other motorists backing into prams/child carriages, when parents are organising children and babies for the shopping trip at the back of their car, where traffic flow passes within (two) 2 metres.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to have a state wide policy regarding the provision of car-parking bays suitable for parents with prams in any future shopping centre development. Also to immediately provide extra parents' parking bays now, to shopping centres in Hervey Bay and along the Esplanade, to avoid the harm, injury and possible death of a child/baby/parent.
