Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that Victoria Point and Surrounds of Redland City is experiencing excessive population growth and will continue, there has been an alarming increase of incidents, anti-social behaviour, including robberies, youths running amok at day/night, vandalism, public nuisances, car thefts, serious assaults, break and enters impacting innocent lives. Local businesses being targeted, Drugs and alcohol in Public Spaces. E Scooter riders ignoring State laws speeding. Hooning vehicles, motor bikes. Increase in theft of Tradesmen's Tools from Vehicles, eliminating their day-to-day livelihoods. Fast food outlets can be a major attraction for youth crime.

Local Government to work collaboratively with QPS enforcing their Community Safety Policies, and bylaws, implementing Crime Preventative measures, keeping residents safe in council official public spaces. Shopping Centres to work collaboratively with QPS combating Crime.

Redland Bay and Cleveland Stations are no longer viable due to lack of police resources to service Victoria Point. The Police do an incredible community service working hard endeavouring to keep us safe. There is also urgent need for harsher penalties for underage offenders to stop the cycle of reoffending committing horrific Crimes. Permanent stronger police presence for Victoria Point will create a long-term safer community.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to consider a permanent mobile police van primarily for Victoria Point with the flexibility to be deployed where required, and to prioritise urgent extra police resources for Redland Bay and Cleveland to be able to deliver and respond to timely requests/calls from the community.
