Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House our objection to:

  • ‘Scott’s Farm’ (portion thereof) inclusion in Ripley Valley PDA
  • Planned resumption - Scott’s Farm (Lot 178,SP141765) for proposed Primary School (PS004) by Department of Education and Department of State Infrastructure

Scott family are the original settlers of Scott's Farm, Ripley since 1893. A working farm of historical, community and environmental significance worthy of saving. Family has shared the property with community groups since 1920’s at no cost. Ten Scott families currently live on this property, the mental health and wellbeing of all will be affected.

Lot178 contains:

  • Original vegetation
  • A refuge area for wildlife (koala’s, sugar glider possums) displaced by development
  • Original farmhouse, all farm infrastructure, structures of historical significance
  • Resumption will make it physically and financially impossible for farm function

Neighbouring Sekisui House Developments (SHD) approved for 12,000 dwellings and zero schools, contradicts EDQ guidelines:

  • Guideline 11 for Community Facilities - Primary Schools - planned at 1:3000 dwellings
  • PracticeNote09 - Context Plans to indicate land use for schools, SHD context plan zero schools

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to request the government to:

  • Remove Scott’s Farm, Lot 178,SP141765 from Ripley Valley PDA
  • Remove the proposed Primary School (PS004) from Scott’s Farm, Lot178,SP141765
  • Explain why Guideline 11 for Community Facilities was not applied to the approval of SHD DEV2012/235, while EDQ refers to this Guideline in all planning and July 2022 DCOP submission response
  • Explain why the developer cannot provide greenfield land for the school.
