TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House, the dire need to ensure that funding, planning and construction on, at a minimum, the next two stages of the Coomera Connector North of Shipper Drive to a junction on Foxwell Road, Coomera and a further junction on Yawalpah Road, Pimpama, be fast tracked. In addition, the funding, planning and construction of an East West connecting road across the M1 south of Exit 54 and the funding, planning and construction of a further interchange including North and South bound on and off ramps between Exit 49 and Exit 54 are desperately needed.

The people of the Coomera area already experience log jammed traffic congestion at Exit 54, every day. When the Coomera Connector terminates at Shipper Drive spilling additional traffic onto Foxwell Road in 2027, at the same time as the new Coomera Hospital is constructed, together with other proposed medical facilities in 2027, it will be an absolute nightmare.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure that the Minister for Transport includes funding for the major projects outlined in this petition in the State Government Budget, due to be handed down on June 11th 2024, to provide some relief to the distress experienced every day, by the people of the Coomera electorate and the broader northern Gold Coast community.
