Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House the Flashing School Zone Sign (FSZS) initiative is excellent for improving school zone safety because many schools have different operational dates and times.

The FSZS have two modes, where the non-illuminated non-flashing lights indicates to drivers that the current school zone Is inactive.

The system is maintained by government and when non functional for any reason, the police wrongly take advantage of this to fine drivers.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all within its power to ensure that fines are not issued, and the sign is repaired, when the government maintained Flashing School Zone Sign (FSZS) is not functional or faulty for any reason.
