TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House: The Queensland Government is proposing legislative changes that will make it almost impossible for people with immediate financial needs to receive short-term cash loans. The proposed cap on interest rates and/or fees and charges may stop Cash Call micro lenders from providing this vital service, which helps tens of thousands of Queenslanders each year. Your petitioners therefore request the House to abandon this proposal so Queenslanders can continue to have choice in the marketplace for financial solutions.
