The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the significant negative impact on local services that will be caused by the amalgamation of Redcliffe City Council with any other local government. Your petitioners therefore request the House to: 1) Keep the Redcliffe community strong by not amalgamating Redcliffe City with any other local government area; and 2) Consider extending Redcliffe City's local government boundaries to include and therefore benefit the surrounding areas of Deception Bay, North Lakes, Mango Hill and Griffin, which share a common and strong community of interest with Redcliffe (and are contained in a logical and naturally defined area bordered by Moreton Bay, Burpengary Creek, the Pine River and the Bruce Highway).
