TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petitions of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the Maroochy Shire Council's recent approval with conditions for the development of land at Bli Bli for urban subdivision and multiple dwelling units by the applicant Firefast Pty Ltd under application for development No REC05-0048 and MCD05-0045. Your petitioners request the House to have the Minister for Environment use her call-in powers to review the Maroochy Shire Council's approval with conditions of the above application for development because of concerns that: (l) The proposed placement of fill on the flood plains will have a detrimental effect on the declared State Government's Protected Fish Habitat, neighbouring Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary, and residential areas downstream. (2) A 100 metre wide buffer should be placed on the northern end of the property adjourning the Maroochy Wetlands, and a 30 metre wide buffer along the western banks of the Proposed Environment Park, and in keeping with our concern for the Fish Habitat and the quality of the river we request a 100 metre wide buffer from the river on the southern end of the development be upheld as per the EPA requirements.
