TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House that the SeaLink Travel Group proposes to dredge 4700m3 of the seabed at Redland Bay when other options including other sea locations may be available.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call for that the Minister for the Environment and Great Barrier Reef,  Minister for Science assesses any application for such capital dredging to include other sea locations and in particular the short haul vehicular ferry routes described in the GHD-RCC Southern Moreton Bay Islands Water Transport Alternative Route Study. Furthermore the views of other stakeholder groups who have been long pushing for those short haul routes should be consulted in any assessment.
