Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the need to refuse the renewal of Mining Lease ML1156 for a further 25 years at 105-227 Gardner Road, Rochedale, Qld 4123.

The ongoing use of the site for mining purposes is no longer complimentary to adjoining land uses and the fast-growing Rochedale residential community.

There are already more appropriate uses approved for 105 Gardner Road, Rochedale as part of a previously decided development application and more appropriate uses proposed at 227 Gardner Road, Rochedale as part of a current development application for subdivision and future employment uses.

The State Government currently does not identify the Austral Brick’s mine as a key resource area.

It is vital that Queensland residents have a say to protect the lifestyle in the Rochedale community.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to urge the Minister for Resources to refuse the application seeking to renew Mining Lease ML1156.
