Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House the recent announcement that Rookwood Weir’s wall is to be raised by a further 700mm. Raising the wall 700mm will increase the weir’s capacity to 74,325 ml, leaving the project still short of the 76,000 ml Central Queenslanders were originally promised. 

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all within its power to ensure that the height of Rookwood Weir’s wall is raised by a full one metre, not 700mm. Raising the height by a full metre will restore the weir’s capacity to the original promised volume of 76,000 ml. 76,000 ml was what detailed 2017 Business Case for the project said was the minimum amount needed for the region and 76,000 ml is therefore what the people of Central Queensland have a right to expect.
