TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that the dangers associated with the delays in constructing a new Mt Crosby Interchange by the Queensland Government has resulted in many serious accidents as drivers exit the Warrego Highway into Karalee and Chuwar. This interchange has not been upgraded since 1985, since this time thousands of residents have moved into the area and schools and shopping centers have been built. Coal Road is a major arterial road in Chuwar, but access to Coal Road from the Warrego Highway is blocked. Making an exit from the Warrego Highway to Coal Road will provide a safe exit road for the thousands of residents living in Chuwar and ease the traffic at the Mt Crosby Interchange. Building an exit for Coal Road will be required even if the Mt Crosby Interchange is upgraded.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call on the Minister for Transport and Main Roads to fast track construction of an exit ramp to Coal Road Chuwar from the Warrego Highway for the safety of motorists.
