The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that Kirra is not a legally gazetted suburb within the state of Queensland. Although it shares the post code of 4225 with both Bilinga and Coolangatta it is unrecognised as a standalone suburb and causes much grief to the taxpayers that call Kirra their home. This is a simple request and would provide a simple solution to everyday tasks like bill paying, licence renewals and the list is long and varied. Kirra is a world-famous tourist destination now and signed accordingly by all forms of government but unfortunately the name Kirra has been left ungazetted as to be legal.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to do all within its power to designate Kirra as its own suburb in the state of Queensland.
