TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that we the people of rural and regional Queensland, were dismayed to once again hear of another significant expenditure planned for freeways in the south east corner when roads in the rest of the State are in poor condition with some major arterial roads not even sealed. The New South Wales Government is nearing the completion of a four-lane carriageway from the Victorian border to the Queensland border and yet we have nothing even close to this planned in Queensland.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call on the State Government to put in place a publicly available plan to provide a four-lane carriageway from the New South Wales border to Cairns and at least two-lane carriageways on all major arterial and regional roads. We want the plan to include the sealing of the Peninsular Development Road and timeframes for the completion of all works, including every stage involved.
