The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the Housed the untapped potential for more plant-based industry in our towns and cities. Signatories today attended the Brisbane Vegan Expo and we want more opportunities for ethical and sustainable industry to thrive in our state. These businesses are innovative and most appropriate for our arid environment and changing consumer preference.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to commit to new investments in plant-based industry including the growing and local processing of food and other products. We also request a fair transition scheme for workers currently in animal exploitation industries to find new, kind and meaningful employment.
