Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House claims in petition 3166, that renewable power is the way to “reduce electricity prices”. To move to 100% renewable power by 2030, as proposed in petition 3166, would be extremely costly and cause irreparable harm to domestic and industrial users.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to examine the claims in petition 3166, that coal and gas are higher cost than renewables, which are incapable of providing cheap, reliable, cost effective power 24/7, without back-up from base load power stations, that must be idle when the sun is shining and the wind blowing.
