TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the need for a venue where all feel safe by increasing police presence at Stocklands North Rockhampton. Business owners at Stocklands, employees and customers who frequent Stocklands are of the opinion that juvenile/general crime, threats, stealing and violence has gotten out of control and a permanent police presence will act as a deterrent and provide reassurance and safety to the community.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to:

1. Provide a permanent “police beat” stationed at Stocklands, North Rockhampton ASAP.
2. Request that this aforementioned “police beat” be permitted and underwritten by Stocklands management to operate within the centre at no cost to our government; businesses of Stocklands; and that Stocklands underwrite all costs of a “police beat’ as a service that will ultimately benefit their profits by ensuring an environment the public feels safe to attend.
3. Request the State government to provide (in addition to current allocated QPS Rockhampton) an additional two police officers, plus at least one indigenous officer (or liaison officer/s) for the sole purpose of the proposed “police beat” Stocklands.
