TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the high cost of electricity within Queensland due to the use of high cost fuels such as coal and gas and a lack of competition in the energy generation market and the slow uptake of new technologies around renewables.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to have a plan to increase the amount of renewable energy generation from 21% to 100% by 2030 to bring price relief to your residents. We also request that more money is invested in state owned renewables power generation projects.
