TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the urgent need to upgrade the car park at the Coomera Railway Station to accommodate the huge increase in population in the Coomera-Pimpama area. The latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that Pimpama on the northern Gold Coast has the biggest growth of any suburb in Queensland and is the fastest-growing outside a capital anywhere in Australia. This growth is a continuation of the past five years. A significant increase in car park spaces, from the current 558 spaces, at the Coomera Railway Station is therefore essential for the provision of services to the residents of the Coomera-Pimpama area. Recent counts of “informally parked” cars within the Coomera Railway Station have been as high as 85 cars, during school terms and university semesters.
The Coomera-Pimpama area is a well located and planned urban settlement and, as such, must be serviced by the appropriate infrastructure.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Rail upgrade and increase the car park size, at the Coomera Railway Station, as a matter of urgency.
