TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House: to the poor and dangerous state of the Gladstone to Monto Road, in particular the gravel section between Many Peaks and Kalpower, the section between Nagoorin and Ubobo and other sections of the road towards Monto. These sections are dangerous, particularly with the advent of heavy haulage operating 24/7 carrying timber and ilminite. The section between Kalpower and Many Peaks is so bad that the school bus operator has cancelled the school bus service as they believe they are unable to deliver children safely to school.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to: take whatever action is required to ensure the repair to the gravel section to a safe state, and put plans in place to bitumen both these sections of Gladstone to Monto Road to provide a safe two lane road, and other such works as needed on the road towards Monto to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
