TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that in the Federal election campaign the Treasurer and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party condemned the practice of female genital mutilation but did not condemn male genital mutilation. Both are practised for cultural, historical and religious reasons and both are abhorrent and totally unnecessary. It is shameful for our society to allow male genital mutilation in any form just as it is to allow female genital mutilation for cultural, historical and religious reasons.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to legislate to ban the practice of male genital mutilation.
