TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Electors of the Division of Mirani draws to the attention of the House serious pedestrian safety concerns with the Anzac Street rail-crossing. Upwards of five hundred students from the Sarina State High School must walk across the level crossing to access separated campuses of the school. The Anzac Street crossing involves Queensland Rail's north-coast railway as well as Wilmar's sugar tramway.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to upgrade the Anzac Street level crossing to at least a standard equal to Central Street, which provides pedestrian maze and activated safety gates, to prevent untimely access to the rail corridor by students and other pedestrians.
