TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the crucial need for a noise abatement barrier to be installed between the Gympie Road and Gympie Road Service Road. The residents request that the wall be approximate of 250 metres in length and 4 to 5 metres in height. A DBA (decibel values of sound) has been recorded at 10 am at the level of 83 DBA with noise levels higher during peak periods. Gympie Road carries 73147 vehicles per day and is reported as Brisbane's second busiest road. The number of vehicles has increased due to the new developments including large developments like North Lakes and increased in-fill developments with higher density dwellings. Given the very high level of noise pollution that is ever increasing the residents agree that a noise abatement barrier will benefit not only the immediate neighbourhood but also other members of the community.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the Minister for Main Roads to install a noise abatement barrier between the Gympie Road and Gympie Road Service Road.
