TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House that winter is with us again and the skies are being filled with smoke from the few combustion heaters, wood burning stoves, coal fired heaters and garden burners still left in society. The problem is especially bad in large urban areas such as our cities and large towns.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to ban the use of all combustion stoves and heaters, all garden fire pits and heating implements in cities throughout Queensland. Rural areas are different and allowances should be made for them to continue burning fuels as the air pollution is not as great as in a high density city or suburban area.
