TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the Fitzgibbon Urban Development Area Development Scheme, namely the development of the Carseldine Urban Village - Precinct 1 situated on the former QUT site.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to ensure the Government acts according to conventional environmental and planning principles to allow proper public comment and objections, and that no steps be taken to progress with any development proposal nor the signing of contracts for either any part land sale or any works in the proposed Precinct 1 thereafter until appropriate arrangements are in place ensuring that:

  1. the proposed infrastructure and funding arrangements for a Beams Road rail overpass are given and binding upon either state government or any proposed project developer;
  2. the modeling showing the impact of the projected additional residents in the area is based on proper and recognised environmental and planning principles with a report issued publicly, and
  3. a full independent environmental impact study is undertaken upon flora and fauna in the area and its surrounds and a report is released publicly to allow consultation and comment.
