TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House an imminent threat to the long term viability of the nationally important spectacled flying fox camp centred on the Cairns library. This threat is the proposed removal of roost trees and construction of two thirteen-storey towers next to the camp.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to reacquire the land Lot 203, SP210231 at 163 Abbott Street, Cairns, being an undeveloped portion of the former Cairns Central School site, and replant it as a park and secure, expanded roost area for flying foxes.
