The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the continued use of Swan St, Wylah St and Creek Road, Noosaville as a bus thoroughfare raises serious safety concerns for pedestrians and vehicles. These streets are not designed for use by large 12.5m buses because of inadequate road width at the curve, insufficient sight and intersection stopping distances, inadequate lighting and no facilities for pedestrians these streets are outside the minimum design parameters for use by buses.

A significant number of incidents and near misses have been reported to the authorities. We are genuinely fearful of an intersection crash at the staggered intersection of Swan/Wylah and Taine St and of a bus collision with pedestrians both, near the concealed laneway and in the blind spot on Creek Road.

Swan St, Wylah St. and Creek Road are safest to perform the function for which they were designed, to give access to private property with on street parking for residents and visitors with the occasional large vehicle. They are not designed to carry regular bus movement nor is it safe to allow this bus movement to continue.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to immediately and permanently remove Swan St, Wylah St and Creek Road, Noosaville, from the bus routes.
