Queensland residents draw to the attention of the House the ongoing threats and perpetration of violence and aggression against Queensland public officers, including police officers, paramedics, firefighters, health staff (including nurses, doctors, clerical staff, wards people and security officers), remote area nurses, volunteer rescue agency officers, and corrective services officers.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to consider amendments to the Criminal Code 340(2AA) to provide for a minimum mandatory sentence of six months (6) for assault of a public officer.
