TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House the decision by the New South Wales Government to ban Greyhound Racing in that state from July 2017.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to
- recognise the strong animal welfare and integrity measures that are now in place in Queensland following the live baiting issues last year;
- recognise the total determination of the industry as a whole, to maintain high standards and the legal action taken against those caught live baiting;
- ensure that the Queensland government continue working with registered owners, trainers, breeders and greyhound racing clubs in Queensland to ensure a bright future for the industry in this state.
