TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland draws to the attention of the House the 800,000 Queensland residents, including 40% of the State's Indigenous population, which are without access to fluoridated water and consequently at increased risk of dental cavities. Since 2012 when control of water fluoridation was handed over to local councils, many regions have opted to cease water fluoridation in spite of it being the most effective and socially equitable way to prevent dental caries.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to resume the mandate and State Government control of water fluoridation in Queensland.
