Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the rapid growth of the Priority Development Area of Yarrabilba in the City of Logan and the consequent impact of traffic upon Waterford-Tamborine Road, especially through the Logan Village township.

Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) has allocated S4OM of the development contribution from Lend Lease to upgrade Waterford-Tamborine Road from two lanes to four lanes (QTRiP 2015/16-2018/19). However, these funds are not sufficient to four lane the whole route from Albert Street to Camp Cable Road and DTMR Is proposing to four lane a cheaper, less dangerous section of Waterford-Tamborine Road.

The more dangerous (and expensive) section is through Logan Village Township. This section is the site of heaviest traffic and congestion on the road; there is substantial pedestrian traffic including school crossing, school bus stops and an Over 50 resort with elderly residents having to cross Waterford-Tamborine Road to go to the shops. The upgrade to a new four lane bypass has been recommended by several studies commissioned by Council.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to ensure the upgrade of Waterford-Tamborine Road commences at the North Street intersection and move south, Including a four-lane bypass of Logan Village Township with traffic lights, and four laning southward through ANZAC Ave, Stockleigh Road, Pioneer Drive and Hotz Road.
