The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that in relation to the proposed Ingham CBD Revitalisation Project currently being pursued by the Hinchinbrook Shire Council, we the undersigned are:

a) Not satisfied that Council has properly considered the views of the local community and a local petition submitted during the public consultation process;

b) Not supportive of Lannercost Street being reduced to one lane of traffic;

c) Opposed to the loss of car parks in Lannercost, Herbert and Cartwright Streets;

d) Concerned about the construction and ongoing maintenance costs of the proposed CBD Revitalisation Project on the ratepayers of the Hinchinbrook Shire; and

e) Concerned that the interests and convenience of tourists are being placed ahead of the interests and convenience of local residents.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to direct the Hinchinbrook Shire Council to reconsider the views of local ratepayers and residents of the Hinchinbrook Shire before any more decisions are made to progress the Ingham CBD Revitalisation Project.
