The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the lack of public toilet facilities in the vicinity of Mt Coolum National Park. Following an upgrade of the summit track in 2012, there has been a significant increase in the number of visitors to over 10,000 per month (in 2014). Visitors are experiencing lack of parking, especially during weekends, and lack of public amenities, which is negatively impacting on local residents and the environment.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to ask the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to provide public toilet facilities and to work with the Sunshine Coast Council to find better parking solutions for visitors to the popular Mt Coolum National Park.
