The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the House science-based research indicates that extreme entertainment events such as rock concerts and fireworks pose serious health and safety risks to captive animals in zoos, animal shelters or wildlife sanctuaries.

 

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to introduce an exclusion zone for extreme entertainment events with a minimum buffer zone of five kilometres radius of any zoo, wildlife sanctuary, breeding facility or animal shelter where captive animals, wildlife or exhibit animals are located. Such entertainment events to include (but are not restricted to) the following: rock concerts and festivals; fireworks; car, truck or motorcycle racing or any other such entertainment event of extreme noise pollution.
