TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the proposal to abolish divisional representation in the Bundaberg Regional Council. Residents of the area believe this will result in a lack of democratic representation for the smaller areas outside the Bundaberg precinct. They believe this will cause disconnection from the local council process and firmly believe a divisional representative system, akin to the State and Federal electoral system would serve the communities better.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to ensure a wide-reaching consultation process takes place in Bundaberg to give opportunity for all residents to vote on the abolition of divisional representation.
