TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House to the vital need for playground development at the Eagleby South State School.  Our school is sited in a very Low Socio-Economic setting but the school itself forms a central hub.  The construction of a secure fence in 2013 and the subsequent reduction in vandalism have allowed us to improve and maintain the condition of school facilities.  Playground spaces are however no longer adequate due to the growth in school numbers, which has been particularly strong in the junior school, resulting in a serious shortage of age-appropriate play equipment.  We estimate that at least a further $70,000 is required to development of a suitable area within our school which can be resurfaced with artificial turf and suitable playground furniture, for use by our young students.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to take whatever action it deems necessary to assist the development of a suitable playground area within the Eagleby South State School for use by the school’s young students.
