Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House:  the wording of the Police Powers and Responsibilities (Motor Vehicle Impoundment) and Other Legislation Bill which includes driving an illegally modified vehicle as a Type 2 hooning offence. Poorly maintained and dangerously modified vehicles pose a much more immediate threat to the community than vehicles modified by genuine enthusiasts.  Car owners should not be at risk of losing their car unless modifications are unsafe.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to:  replace “Driving an illegally modified vehicle”, with “Driving an unsafe vehicle” in the Police Powers and Responsibilities (Motor Vehicle Impoundment) and Other Legislation Bill.
